Carson Caprara is accustomed to operating on a season-by-season timeline from his many years as an executive at Brooks Running. Now, as the brand’s first chief product officer, his horizon has shifted to the next 10 years. It’s a meaningful change, Caprara told Modern Retail, but one he feels prepared to embrace as the 112-year-old brand leans into long-term planning. “We want to start looking at our product [as] led by a brand and a consumer vision,” he said. Caprara, who joined Brooks Running in 2005 as a field marketing representative, stepped into his new role in March after most recently serving as svp of footwear and apparel. In a statement, Brooks Running CEO Dan Sheridan said Caprara brings “exceptional clarity” to product development. The position, Sheridan added, “reflects both the scale of our ambition and the strength of Carson’s leadership, as we expand our product lines and accelerate our global growth.” Caprara’s promotion comes amid a broader leadership reshuffle at the Seattle-based company, which is working to capture more market share as it faces rivals like Hoka, On and Nike. Also in March, Brooks elevated Mike Billish to the new role of svp and gm of the Americas, and broadened CMO Melanie Allen’s remit to emphasize global responsibilities.
